Blown Away

It was an easy tour to book . Confirmation came back straight away and a reminder sent re our visit the day before which was helpful . We took a taxi to the Domain Schlumberger and back from Strasbourg. As soon as my husband and I arrived we were made to feel most welcome. The visit took place over 3 parts. An intensive tour of the winery itself. The Vats and the casks , the bottling and labelling. Absolutely spotless with a mix of the newest technology and old customs combined together to make the deliciousness that is all Schlumberger. A ride around the Schlumberger vineyard in a Jeep. We were taken by Uncle Alain. Sixth Generation to the founder , he was patient with our questions and clearly the winery was more than an enterprise, again making the visit all that is Schlumberger. An intimate wine label to be shared with friends and family, or by yourself ! Then to the tasting. ELEVEN varieties of the Schlumberger label were tried. In Australia we only get maybe 5 ? So a very exciting time for me ! The summit of the visit was to taste some of the Grande Cru varieties, there are 4 in total.Delicious ! To summarise the visit is hard to do with only a few words. We travelled specifically from Australia to visit Schlumberger. Such an underrated wine. It suits Australian cuisine and Weather so well. It’s reasonably priced given the complexities and sometimes the age of the wine. Thank you for sharing your Terrior and Domain with a couple of Aussie knockabouts and making us feel so welcome and now a lot more informed !
